Air Tahiti Nui airlines upgrades planes with new inflight entertainment system and fresh cabin design. Air Tahiti Nui, named the 2012 “Best Airline in the South Pacific” by Global Traveler magazine has launched its new $17 million cabin reconfiguration and entertainment system on board its fleet of Airbus A340-300 aircraft in April 2013. Three aircrafts will be updated by June 2013 for the Los Angeles and Paris routes. The colors of the new seats and interiors will reflect the stunning beauty and charm of Polynesia.

The Poerava Business Class will be increased in capacity from its existing 24 seats to 32 seats. Based on the popular Sogerma “angled lie flat cocoon seat”, the new Business Class will provide more personal room and space with a 60 inch seat pitch while continuing to provide a two by two by two configuration, offering passengers a choice of only window and aisle seating.

The highlight of the new cabin is the new Inflight Entertainment System featuring an “on demand” access to a selection of 25 movies and 24 television programs as well as magazines, games and music on every roundtrip journey.

Economy Class Moana will feature new comfort focused lightweight seats while retaining the popular two – four – two seating configuration. ATN economy class seats have always been wider than the airline industry average and will continue to be so with an 18 inch width and an average 32 inch pitch. The colors selected for the new seats and interior reflect the stunning beauty and charm of Polynesia, which is synonymous with Air Tahiti Nui.

Amongst other amenities, the new inflight system features channels for kids and families as well as a Tahiti focused TV channel, “Tiare TV”, allowing passengers to have a taste of their upcoming vacation in the beautiful islands of Tahiti and allowing them to experience the destination the moment they step on board.

The new inflight entertainment system will have several neat features to keep you busy during your flight. With the ability to choose your language, the new inflight system provides a Tahiti Guide, which will put useful information for your stay in the islands of Tahiti at passengers fingertips. There will even be a wine list available to passengers on the new touch screen system.

Where is Bloody Mary’s Restaurant in Bora Bora?

There are many great places to eat in Bora Bora, however most of them are located at the large resorts around the island and outer motu’s. Although if there is one restaurant that nearly every tourist tries at least once while in Bora Bora it has to be Bloody Mary’s Restaurant & Bar. It is quite possibly the best tropical themed restaurant in the world. With sand as the floor and fresh fish served up daily – we think its a must see.

So where is Bloody Marys Restaurant in Bora Bora? Good question, the restaurant is located on the southern part of the main island and is accessible by car or water taxi. Because of its popularity many of the resorts provide water taxi’s to the pier that Bloody Mary’s owns.

If you are staying on the main island, your hotel concierge will be happy to call you a taxi which will take you to the restaurant free of charge. Its a great deal considering just a short 10 minute taxi ride can set you back over $20 USD. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, check with your hotel concierge to make yourself a reservation as sometimes it can get pretty busy especially during the height of the travel season.

There is not much night life in Bora Bora, which is fine for some people, but if your looking to hang out and grab a drink this is your spot. Bloody Mary’s gets quite a few celebrities so you never know who you might see walking around. At the front of the restaurant there is a wall of famous celebrity names that have been to the restaurant since its opening in 1970. Some things are best viewed from the air, here is a magnificent helicopter view of the Hilton Nui Resort in Bora Bora. The South Pacific region of French Polynesia is home to some beautiful islands, such as Moorea, Tahiti, Raiatea and countless others. However, there is one island that is so nice they named it twice, and if you are on this website you probably have a good idea of which island we’re talking about. The island of Bora Bora is paradise on earth.

Here we are looking at the Hilton Nui Resort & Spa which is located on the Toopua motu just west of Bora Bora’s main city of Vaitape. The unique part of this smaller motu island is the topography, most of the other large resorts are located on flat surfaces which don’t provide for the dramatic views from higher elevations. It’s not a big deal though as Bora Bora is beautiful from almost any angle.

Now for those of you who aren’t afraid of heights, a Bora Bora helicopter tour could be worth checking out. Buzzing around the island on a 20 minute flight can offer you some incredible views that can’t be beat, like this view of the Hilton Nui Resort. Helicopter tours can be a bit pricey so if your on a budget then and a 4×4 Safari tour is your next best alternative.

Here is a beautiful view from the Maitai Polynesia Resort in Bora Bora. The Maitai is located on the main island and this photo is perched above the resort and looking south. In the distance, beyond the Sofitel Private Island Resort on the left you can see the island of Raiatea which is one of French Polynesia’s bigger islands. On the right side of this photo in the distance is the Intercontinental Le Moana resort overwater bungalows.

The Bora Bora lagoon has many shades of blue and this photograph is a perfect example, the lighter areas are shallow while the darker areas on deeper. There is some good snorkeling or scuba very close by because of the lagoon depth. Many tour operators will actually travel all the way around the island to come here because of the marine life, so if you like to get in the water, this is a good spot.

One of the benefits to being located on the main island is the proximity to resources outside the resort, many times when you are on the bigger resorts they entice you to stay by offering almost everything you can imagine, this is not a bad thing for some but the prices are usually very high. Next to the Maitai Polynesia is a local grocery store and Pizza restaurant. You can save quite a bit of money buying food and supplies outside your hotel.

Four Seasons Resort view of Mount Otemanu

This photograph is of the Four Seasons Resort view of Mount Otemanu. This is what the view looks like when you are walking to your overwater bungalow, its pretty nice. The Four Seasons Resort has spacious overwater bungalows that are some of the nicest on Bora Bora island. The resort opened in September 2008 and is set on a private motu with amazing views of Mt. Otemanu from many of its 100 overwater bungalows.

The backdrop in this photo is the majestic Mount Otemanu which holds a special place in the hearts of local Tahitians. The mountain is the highest point on the island and is where Bora Bora kings and queens are buried.

If you are into hiking the mountain is not accessible due to dangerous terrain towards the top, but there are tour operators that will take you to one of the closer mountain ridges where you can get a great view of the entire island. If hiking is not your thing, then to get a great aerial view of the island, you should consider taking a Helicopter tour over Bora Bora so you can see everything from above.

The architecture of Four Seasons Resort Bora Bora is the fruit of a unique collaboration that brings together the cosmopolitan flair of Paris-based architect Didier Lefort and the modern elegance of San Francisco design firm BAMO with the Polynesian authenticity of renowned South Pacific architect Pierre-Jean Picart.

The Resort was developed with the natural setting in mind, its installations designed to harness the location’s ample natural light and prevailing breezes to reduce lighting and air conditioning needs. The Island’s lush native vegetation includes some 100 mature coconut palms, and an on-site nursery nurtures additional native vegetation. Masons fashioned walls using volcanic stone from the neighboring Taha’a island, while interior pillars were made of Merbau timber.
