Bora Bora is the island for lovers. Many of the visitors are couples who are newlyweds, honeymooners and those who are celebrating decades of wedded bliss. The Sofitel Private Island Resort offers some of the most intimate and romantic options for guests and visitors to the resort.
One of the most memorable moments at the Sofitel Private Island was the exclusive romantic dinner for two. Jason partnered with the incredible staff to create the perfect “surprise” evening on the last day of our stay to celebrate our second wedding anniversary.
The romantic dinner for two started with the most incredible sunset at the “point of view”, the highest hill on the island. There are multiple locations on the top of the motu to sit back, relax, and enjoy the sights of the island.
The staff escorted us to our private deck, where we enjoyed refreshing glasses of exquisite champagne and canapés and watched the sun slowly dip into the horizon.
Our Sofitel romantic dinner continued with a private candlelit table, toes in the sand with breathtaking views of Mount Otemanu. We could not wait to begin the culinary adventure, with island-inspired dishes prepared by the innovative chefs at the Sofitel Private Island.
Tuna tartare appetizer- A refreshing island staple to start the meal, made with the freshest tuna and Asian spices.
Pan-fried Foie gras with exotic fruit chutney and served with grilled toast- Rich and decadent duck liver is paired with sweet and tangy local fruit spread, enjoyed with a crisp baguette.
Flambeed scallops with vodka and garden asparagus- Tender and flavorful scallops served in a creamy spiced vodka sauce and crispy plantain chip.
Flambéed lobster with vanilla rum and seasoned gratin- A whole 1 pound succulent lobster served on the half shell, with a delicate vanilla sauce.
Rossini beef with mushroom and forester way- Pan seared and cooked to perfection, the tender pieces of filet served with creamy sweet potato puree.
The romantic dinner was the perfect way to reminisce about all of the great moments of our trip while having an intimate and unique dining experience. We loved how attentive the servers were. However, they did not rush us through the evening. We were able to take our time and enjoy each bite of our incredible meal.
Traditional refined cheeses with dried fruit- After the entree course, we were given an excellent selection of four different soft ripened kinds of cheese.
Tropical Tiramisu, macaroon, fresh strawberries with chocolate- The pastry chef prepared the most fabulous dessert for us to end the fantastic meal; a light chiffon cake with layers of delicious tropical mousse filling.
It was one of the best pastries that we enjoyed during our trip. When we blew out the candle on the cake, I’m almost positive that we both wished to return to the Sofitel in the future!
I just found your write up and I have to say you did a very good job. We’ll be at the Sofitel Sep 2015 and our travel agent recommened that we do the romantic dinner for two. Thanks to you decription (the only one I found) I have decided to do it but I’m not telling my wife. It’ll be her 33 wedding anniversary surprise.
