Special Moments at the Sofitel Private Island Resort

If you’re looking for a special place to spend your honeymoon or vacation, look no further than the Sofitel Private Island. This unique property is tailored to those with privacy in mind. No large crowds or kid zones here. The private island is one of the smaller adult-oriented boutique resorts in Bora Bora.

Upon arrival at BOB airport, you’re lei-greeted by Sofitel staff members ready to whisk you away to their private paradise. After a scenic 20-minute boat ride to the resort, you’ll receive another Tahitian greeting with ukulele music and a refreshing coconut drink.

Jessica and I spent our honeymoon here and have since revisited it on several occasions. From the luxury overwater bungalows to the stunning views of Mt. Otemanu and the most amazing sunsets, this resort holds a special place in our hearts.

Since our first visit, the resort has only improved its offerings and experiences. One of the highlights of the Sofitel Private Island is their Romantic Dinner with Tahitian music and dancing. However, there are lesser-known options to enhance your stay, but the only caveat is that you need to ask. If you think it, the staff can probably do it. Want a private dinner on the sand, then sure, why not.

Jessica and I enjoyed a private ONLY YOU dinner inside our luxury overwater bungalow with champagne and incredible food for this trip. Our tasting menu featured multiple courses of fresh fish, meat, cheeses, and dessert, each individually brought to our room and presented to us by a friendly staff member. The service was impeccable, and there was no rush as we sipped champagne and talked about our favorite part of the day, swimming with sharks and rays.

As you may know or have come to find out, everything in Bora Bora is expensive. From food, materials, clothes, the list goes on. If it’s not local to French Polynesia, then it’s probably imported. That’s why we were very excited to learn about Le Club Accor Hotels program. With a free membership, you get access to several soft benefits such as room upgrades, extended checkout, and complimentary internet that can be used at any of the Accor properties around the world, which includes the Sofitel.

We found that the best bang for your buck is the MyResorts™ Glass offer. Pre-pay a flat rate, in our case $48 USD, and receive unlimited soft drinks during the day and selected alcoholic beverages during a limited happy hour (2 hours). This is an excellent deal because individual drinks cost up to $10 to $20 a piece!

Polynesian Cocktail Favorites:

  • Mango Imperial – Dark rum, triple sec, pineapple juice, mango juice
  • Mahana – Bourbon, anise liqueur, pineapple juice, banana juice, red fruit syrup
  • Passion Fruit Sour – Amaretto, passion fruit puree, lime, cane sugar
  • Vahine – White rum Havana Club, Malibu, coconut milk, milk caramel syrup
  • Mai Tai Original – Avatea white and brown rum, Curaçao, almond syrup, lime
  • Blue Mana’o – Mana’o white rum, Curaçao blue, Malibu, lemon

The Sofitel Private Island resort is one of those dream destinations. The stress of life melts away as soon as you get there. We recommend asking the concierge for local activities and the tour menu when checking in. Also, be sure to ask about the Romantic Dinner as reservations and dates are limited. I hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did!
