More private retreat than a hotel, Mai Moana Island occupies a tiny flat islet on the northwestern side of the reef. The little motu is the home of Stan Wisnieswski, a Polish-born, Paris-based documentary and advertising filmmaker, poet, journalist, sailor, and avid ham-radio operator who speaks Polish, French, and English.
Stan and wife Malgorzata have three thatched-roof bungalows near their white-sand beach. Each cottage is 40m² and includes fans, mosquito nets, TV, phone, minibar, double bed, ceiling fan and a private bathroom powered by solar heating. A very sustainable island. Free snorkeling equipment is provided.
Guests can relax with sun loungers on the white sand beach. The local and French cuisine is served each day at the beachfront restaurant. The tour desk can arrange sunset boat tours and fish feeding trips. Shuttle boat services to the main island are available at an extra cost. They permit only six guests here at any one time, and none of them can be under 12 years old. So the grounds are very quiet and relaxing if you are indeed looking for some one on one time.
